hey! last night I had a really incredibly lovely time at the Quiet Storm Supper Club. I took a bottle of beaujolais and shared it(and many cigarettes, and naughty conversations about indierockers) with a cool girl who works there. Who also has a secret life as a student of film criticism and also a big box full of pictures of her grandmother who was a lady wrestler burlesque performer escort in the 1930s. She travelled to Cuba and Paris with "boyfriends." I am so jealous. So last night I noticed a new poster in the Quiet Storm which has to do with getting AIDS tested. Which is a good thing, of course, and any one who has ever practiced at risk behaviors should do it. But the poster is the most ridiculous thing I believe I have ever seen. It is a nice soothing green color with white silohuettes of various people in different poses and groupings, with word bubbles coming out of their heads reading "I Swabbed." (except for the silohuette of the baby, which says "my mom swabbed.") It just looks silly, really, and it really made me mad that although there is an obvious heterosexual couple swabbing, there are no obvious gay people. (well, of course the ambiguous person working out is probably gay, but why not a gay couple? Why wouldn't they swab?) I get my panties in a bunch over the weirdest things, granted. But it bugs me. Hey! I haven't yet mentioned anything to do with Whitesnake! Well, I don't really have to anymore, since that gratuitous Tawny Kittaen reference has already gotten me at least 20 hits. Why do you think that at least two people per day are STILL looking for information on Tawny Kittaen? Now, in 2003? And stranger still, I am but one of many hits for Tawny Kittaen. She is one hot topic on the world wide internet, let me tell you that much. For example: these heavy metal haikus. Some of them are really funny, and some of them are about Tawny Kittaen.
